Last Friday there was a tragedy that occurred in Connecticut. 26 lives were lost, 20 of them being innocent children. I am so thankful that I got to spend this weekend safely at home with my baby girl and my husband. Too many families did not get to do this.
Sunday we went to church. It was a wonderful sermon but one thing stood out. Why did this happen now? Why at the Christmas season where Joy is supposed to be filling out lives. With no clear answer, we were reminded of one thing. The birth of Christ was not a safe joyful occasion for all. Upon His birth, He was immediately in danger:
Then Herod, when he saw that he had been tricked by the wise men, became furious, and he sent and killed all the male children in Bethlehem and in all that region who were two years old or under, according to the time that he had ascertained from the wise men. (Matthew 2:16)
